Johnson Controls has been recognised by CDP as one of the top-performing companies in its 2024 Supplier Engagement Assessment, earning a place on the coveted A List. This distinction is awarded to organisations that demonstrate outstanding performance in supplier engagement, governance, target-setting and management of Scope 3 emissions—those indirect emissions that occur across a company’s supply chain.

Out of more than 23,000 companies assessed worldwide, Johnson Controls was among the top 450 selected for the A List, underscoring its leadership in driving climate action beyond its own operations.

This recognition from CDP reflects our deep commitment to sustainability across our entire value chain,” said Jesus Sanchez, Responsible Sourcing & Sustainability at Johnson Controls. “We know that real climate impact requires collaboration, and we’re proud to work closely with our suppliers to drive innovation, reduce emissions, and create a more resilient future.

Johnson Controls’ inclusion on the A-List builds on the company’s strong sustainability performance, as detailed in its 2025 Sustainability Report:

Johnson Controls continues to make significant strides in its sustainability journey, delivering tangible results across operations, product innovation and supplier engagement:

  • The company has achieved a 48% reduction in absolute emissions across its own operations since 2017, moving steadily towards its target of a 55% reduction by 2030
  • Scope 3 emissions (those generated from the use of sold products) have been reduced by 20% since 2017, already surpassing the company’s 2030 target of 16%
  • Globally, 56% of Johnson Controls’ electricity consumption is now met or matched by renewable energy sources, reflecting its commitment to clean energy transition
  • In 2024, 88% of the company’s research and development investment is focused on climate-related innovation, exceeding its goal of 75% and reinforcing its role as a pioneer in sustainable building technologies
  • Sustainability now represents 21% of supplier scorecard criteria, placing it on equal footing with cost, quality and delivery. This ensures that environmental performance is embedded into procurement decisions and supplier relationships

These milestones reflect Johnson Controls’ integrated approach to sustainability—one that combines operational excellence, product innovation and strategic collaboration to accelerate progress towards a low-carbon future.
