Heat Pumps
Hit decarbonisation targets whilst providing efficient, cost-effective environmental controlCutting Energy Costs With Environmentally Friendly Solutions
As the drive towards decarbonisation and environmentally friendly solutions to heating and cooling accelerate, Johnson Controls is at the forefront of the technological revolution to design, manufacture, install, and service ultra-energy efficient HVAC products such as water and air source heating pumps.
Our range of easy-to-install water and air source heating pumps deliver a renewable solution to heating and cooling applications that reduce energy bills and provide you with a low carbon footprint solution.
Integrating air source or water source heating into your HVAC system is a great solution for most commercial buildings, as the installation is quick and easy, and you don’t need much space to mount your air source heating unit outside.
How does a Heat Pump work?
A heat pump extracts heat from the outside air, or local water sources, even at low temperatures, and converts it into energy that you can use within your building's heating or cooling system.
This low-cost, low-impact energy can maintain indoor temperatures at ideal conditions, provide hot water, and help your business meet its decarbonisation goals.
Different Types of Heat Pump
Johnson Controls offer a range of heat pump solutions, each designed to suit specific applications. The different types of heat pumps available include:
Commercial Air Source Heat Pumps
Commercial air source heat pumps (ASHPs) efficiently heat and cool large buildings by extracting heat from the outdoor air using an evaporator coil. The heat is then amplified through compression before being released indoors, creating a comfortable environment. ASHPs are a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution for commercial heating and cooling needs.
Commercial Water Source Heat Pumps
Our water source heat pumps work by extracting heat from local water sources such as lakes or wells, even at low temperatures. This heat is and converted into energy that can be used within your building’s heating or cooling system. This low-cost, low-impact energy can maintain indoor temperatures, provide hot water, and help you meet decarbonisation goals.
Water source heat pumps are only a viable source of energy if your business premises are near a useable water source, so while they’re an excellent choice, they won’t be suitable for all applications.
Please note that we do not currently install heat pumps for small domestic buildings.
Reclaiming Waste Hot Air from Chillers
A by-product of chilling air for internal building cooling is waste heat that is often vented into the atmosphere. Air source heat pumps can harness this waste hot air as an energy source and can effectively use this air to power other elements of the HVAC system such as hot water. This solution can offer significant increases in system efficiency and therefore reduced energy consumption.
