The ice, the bed and the foundations

Refrigerations solutions for ice rinks

The extent of damage to foundations, caused by frost-heave from the ice, depends on local ground conditions.

Therefore, foundation materials must combine the appropriate qualities of strength and permeability. Calculating the complex proportional mixes of materials which will give the best possible foundations is a science.

Under certain conditions, underfloor heating may also need to be placed within the foundation structure. The output from two compressors usually provides the best ice maintenance and heating conditions. However, Johnson Controls has also developed the Rotatune compressor as a single unit option for certain facilities.
