Johnson Controls Energy and Emissions Management System
Global organizations can now go online to analyze energy trends and calculate their carbon footprint using an enhanced version of the web-based Energy and Emissions Management System. An industry-recognized team of energy and climate change management specialists designed the system to assist them in targeting and reporting energy and environmental best practice. Companies like Pfizer, Lockheed Martin, and Dell manage and forecast their activities related to energy cost, consumption, energy efficiency projects, fleet emissions and waste. Users can generate easy-to-understand, auditable reports to summarize and validate incoming data.Delivered by Johnson Controls Global WorkPlace Solutions, the system currently manages $1 billion of annual energy spend and monitors 63 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year for 5,000 buildings located in 88 countries. Over the last eight years, the system has captured more than 8,000 energy and cost savings initiatives – nearly half of which were completed resulting in savings of $1 billion and 6.2 million metric tons of CO2 or the equivalent.
“Because the system is web-based, companies need not install software--all that’s necessary is a browser,” says Mike Harris, vice president and general manager of energy and sustainability services for Johnson Controls.
“Our Energy and Emissions Management System is compatible with Windows, Mac and other operating systems. The data can be entered into the system in three ways:
Johnson Controls Energy and Emissions Management System is a user-friendly, global system that includes international support of data entry. The dashboard can be viewed in four languages, numerous currencies and units of measure. In addition, a greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory module automates carbon accounting based on the World Research Institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development GHG Protocol. The GHG module consolidates all sources of greenhouse gas emissions, baseline adjustments, and credit trading impacts to generate a transparent, verifiable greenhouse gas inventory.
