Since 2002, the annual Flexible Working Survey - designed and managed by Global WorkPlace Innovation - examines the way people work across Europe. The findings provide businesses with fresh insights of how to align HR, IT and workplace strategies to changing working practices.

New ways of working

The latest research proves that flexible working is increasingly becoming the norm, as today`s professionals are seeking more control over how and where they work.

This year's results show that people:

    are spending less time in the office (18%),
    more time homeworking (36%),
    and most of the time on the move (46%).

    Consequently, corporate premises are now the emphasis for interaction and communication, with 86% of face-to-face meetings taking place in the central HQ. This presents new challenges for those designing, servicing and managing offices to maximise workforce productivity.
