OXYGENZ: Generation Y and the Workplace
What does Generation Y expect from their future working environment?
How important is the workplace in attracting, recruiting and retaining Generation Y workers and what factors contribute to talent management?
Despite a world population of 1.174 billion young people between the ages of 15-24, it is estimated that there are insufficient Generation Y workers for the future. Attracting and retaining this generation of workers will be vital to maintain business success in the future, and may well bring far more disruption than we could anticipate.Introducing OXYGENZ:
OXYGENZ is a research project led by Global WorkPlace Innovation to understand how important the future workplace is to generations in the workplace. The research gathered information from 5,000 students at universities worldwide, and young employees from a range of professions since February 2008. The aim is to understand which physical attributes of a workplace Generation Y most value, giving a valuable insight into multigenerational issues in the workplace of the future.
OXYGENZ aims to answer the following questions:
- What expectations does Generation Y have about their future workplace
- What workspace design will they expect?
- What technology would they like to have available?
- How do they expect to get to and from work?
- What other facilities will they expect to have on site?
Explore the OXYGENZ website, participate in the survey and create your own virtual workplace.
